Free Set of 10 Hand Painted Watercolor Holiday Printables

Before I had kids, I always thought I would decorate for every holiday… then I had kids.

And real life REALLY happened.

Let’s be honest, in REAL life, I am lucky if I decorate for Christmas, and usually I only do that because of the blog… If I could get away with not doing anything, I would- I’d go to Hawaii and soak up the sun and come home when Christmas was over!!

So today’s FREE Canon sponsored printable just made me a better mother (at least nearer to the mother I thought I’d be before I had kids….)  And the good news is you can be that mother too!

Easy seasonal decorating, look no further! This set of free holiday printables has 10 beautiful hand-painted watercolor prints to help make seasonal decorating as easy as can be! Get the free printable set on Remodelaholic.com.

Basically it is a set of holiday printables that you keep in one frame and change out each month.  With the printable and a cute matching colored item, you have welcomed the next holiday in to your home, without making a mess that you have to deal with for 30 days and then clean up.

I printed mine on my Canon PIXMA iP8720, on the 19″ x 13″ Matte Photo paper which is Cardstock, I love the ability to print such large prints at home.  They have a really nice presence on the wall!

Set Of Free Holiday Printables @remodelaholic 14 Of 17

Set Of Free Holiday Printables @remodelaholic 15 Of 17

Here is the easiest way to make this set work for you.  I bought a 19 x 13 frame on Amazon (affiliate link) this one to be exact!  I printed the full set of holiday printableshttps://remodelaholic.leadpages.co/leadbox-1476719971.js, removed the glass from my frame, and stacked my 10 printables in holiday order.

To make sure you couldn’t see the other printables, I added one blank 19 x 13 sheet of paper behind the holiday print that is currently showing.

Then just put the stack in the frame, followed by the back board, and you should be set.

As each holiday winds up, all you have to do is switch the printable that is showing to the coming holiday.  Just keeping things real, when I did my photo shoot to show you how easy this can be, I literally found one matching item from around the house as decor for the tray in front of the printable and didn’t change anything else out!  Keep in mind, these things were literally things I just had around the house, so you don’t need to spend extra money on little dust collectors to sit next to it (unless you want to!!)

Up Close and Personal with Nicole Curtis

Candid as they come, Nicole Curtis is not one to shirk from being her authentic self. But there’s only so much you can see or reveal on TV. Well fellow Rehab Addict fans, it’s time to rejoice! Your favorite HGTV and DIY Network star is getting up close and personal in her brand new book, Better Than New: Lessons I’ve Learned from Saving Old Homes (And How They Saved Me).

Like the homes she renovates, writing Better Than New was a labor of love for Nicole that took over two years from start to finish. We had the chance to talk with Nicole about her new book and how this new creative adventure came to be. Read on to find out more and pick up your copy today!

Private Struggles, Personal Battles

So what inspired Nicole to write a book? She says, “I felt it was important to answer all the questions people have been asking over the last 7 years.” While it might look easy on TV, “there is a real struggle that happens” says Nicole.

Described as part memoir, part self-help book, Better Than New is composed of eight revealing chapters about Nicole’s personal journey and the homes she’s renovated along the way. Although she says she doesn’t have a favorite chapter, the projects she chose to write about and feature in the book are the ones closest to her heart.

Better Than New

Coming up with a fitting title for a book can be a difficult task, but not for Nicole.  “It [better than new] was something my grandma always said and everything I love is always better than new. You hear people say it all the time. It just fit.”

“I see treasures where others see garbage,” says Nicole “Just the other day I found some bamboo my neighbor was throwing out and used it to fill my fall urns. Anything that can be saved and refinished is always good.”

How to Save a Life

Nicole describes the work she does restoring old homes to their former glory as “larger than life”. When starting a new project, Nicole explains, “You don’t go in with a plan. You can’t.” While we often focus on successes rather than failures, Nicole says she believes we learn more by examining and finding the life lessons in our failures.

In Better Than New you’ll find plenty of Nicole’s life lessons as a single mom and entrepreneur, as well as over 75 never-before-seen photos from her personal collection.

Mint and Copper Kitchen Inspiration

Create a beautiful, modern and fresh mint and copper kitchen with tips, inspiration, and product picks from AD Aesthetic on Remodelaholic.com

Hello again! Dawn here, from AD Aesthetic, back with another mood board for your decoration inspiration. If you’ve been on Pinterest lately, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that copper is a big trend right now. I have to say, I’m totally on board. I love the warm, classic look it adds to any space. There’s one color combo that’s really been catching my eye though, and that is copper with mint. There’s just something about that warm metal and cool, refreshing minty green that works so well. I thought that this month, I’d put together a mood board using this beautiful color combo in a kitchen.

Mint and Copper Kitchen Inspiration

To start with, I browsed around and came up with some lovely inspiration:

Whether it’s just a hint of this great color in the accents, or a bigger commitment with the cabinets and hardware, mint and copper for the win! It’s such a refreshing and fun color combination. I really love it. Once these ideas were firmly planted in my brain, I set to work on my own design for the perfect mint and copper kitchen.

DIY Kids Floating Vanity Station

Create a DIY kids' floating vanity and ready station - perfect for a tight space or kids room, plus help small children learn independence and self-care. Tutorial from Lemon Thistle Blog on Remodelaholic.com

Hello Remodelaholic readers! Colleen here from Lemon Thistle, home to DIY, home decor, printables, and parties. Today I’m excited to be back with you to share this minimal vanity for a kids room with you all. It’s slim enough to fit behind a door (without getting bumped!), fun enough to be a feature in the room, and practical to free up precious bathroom space during ‘rush hour’.

I received *’Design Mom’ the book  (affiliate link) for Christmas this year and read it cover to cover twice. I loved it. One of the suggestions she had was to create space in kids rooms for them to do things that they might otherwise do things in common areas that get crowded. For us- that’s our one bathroom (seen here). She also suggested having mirrors kiddos height to help them learn independence and grooming. I loved these ideas and decided I needed to create some sort of getting ready station in the kids room. We have three year old twins and they’re at the age where they want to brush their own hair and do all their own grooming, so they’re constantly climbing up on the bathroom counter to see what they’re doing in the mirror.

DIY floating vanity- perfect for a tight space or kids room

The problem I was facing is that their room (we’re in a 1960’s house) although large for a secondary bedroom… is small. And with two double beds, a dresser and a double closet- there wasn’t much wall space left for anything. We’ve made great use of the space in there, so the only spot we hadn’t used yet was behind the door. It would work… but it would be tight. I didn’t just want a mirror, I wanted a small shelf or ledge where they could store items like their brushes, elastics, and anything else they might need to get ready for their day.

The solution I came up with is SO simple, it can be done in an afternoon and it won’t cost you a fortune.

How to Make a Kids Floating Vanity Station

by  Colleen from Lemon Thistle

This post contains affiliate links for your convenience. See our full disclosure policy here.

For this project, you’ll need:

  • Small Mirror (Mine is from the dollar store, it is an event centerpiece mirror, but you can also check Amazon for other options if you want something different)
  • 1×4 cut to size (I used oak, see notes below)
  • Small L Brackets with screws (and drywall brackets if no studs)
  • Paint (I chose a grey that was slightly darker than what was on our walls) and brush
  • Level
  • Painters Tape
  • Silicone Adhesive (or similar)

Step 1: Measure and Cut

Start by measuring the space you’d like your station to be. Cut your 1×4 to size using a chop saw or other saw. I used a piece of oak I had left from this minimal shelf I made recently. Why I chose this instead of a more affordable wood is… it’s got straight edges and true corners. I don’t have a table saw, when I want to use one I have to call around and go pick one up, bring it home, set it up, use it, pack it up and bring it back (to a family member of a family member no less). It’s not ideal. So saving the step of ripping down the edges was worthwhile for me. Plus I like the harder wood for stability with the short screws. Give the edges a light sand, you’re painting it so you don’t need to sand it crazy well.

DIY floating vanity- perfect for a tight space or kids room

Step 2: Paint

Next, tape off the shape you would like to paint, press your tape down really well to prevent bleeding.

Then, use your level and hang your L brackets. We bought a giant pack of the tiny ones when we were building our built in shelving unit, so I used those BUT you could definitely get bigger ones if you rather. I put the two that would be hidden by the shelf (upside down) on at this step, then added the other one in the middle when I installed the shelf.

Paint out your shape including the installed brackets and screws. I did two coats. While you’re at it, paint your shelf two coats. The paint I chose is from Para Paint and it’s called F-Stop.

Step 3: Install the Mirror and Shelf

Give it time to dry, then install the shelf. Add extra brackets if you feel like it needs them. Then, paint over the screws if you want. I like that the L brackets leave a bit of space between the wall and the shelf (the thickness of the bracket metal) to slip the mirror in to look like one unit. I used a silicone adhesive (GE Iron Grip) to install the mirror. It’s the same stuff we used to install our hammered steel backsplash. Just make sure to apply pressure for 30 seconds to a minute before calling it done. I added a little silver creamer for elastics and hairclips. I considered using the silicone adhesive to attach this to the shelf as well, but we’ll see if there’s enough spills to make this worthwhile. (You could also use removable 3M picturing hanging strips for the mirror.)

It’s been up for a while now and it’s a total hit. Even my son is wanting to comb his own hair. And my daughter spends SO much time combing her hair in front of it. They love having a mirror their height and I love that I can send them with a cloth to go wash their faces and they actually get all the PB off their cheeks.

Don’t forget to pin this to save it for later!

When you have your basic plan (see to it you make a couple of duplicates) you could start to arrange the hardscape products and plants. Hardscape and Plants are referred to as features.
